E-waste autopsy at the NGV an interactive art installation by Leyla Acaroglu
Have you ever wondered why there are no organ donor programs for dead laptops? They have gold inside them! Gold! Yet much electronic waste is almost impossible to get apart to extract all those precious and valuable materials. Why are they even designed that way to begin with? In this interactive installation, members of the public were invited to join sustainability provocateur Leyla Acaroglu and her team of dead stuff dissectioists in a live autopsy of National Gallery of Victoria generated computer paraphernalia in a critical dissection of modern consumerism and explored what lies hidden within the everyday things that fill our lives.
